Why JTI

An honest map of how you tick.

JTI brings together rigorous Jungian theory, independent review against a European test standard, and practical tools for the people who develop teams.

The science

Built on Jung's typology, independently reviewed, and continually studied.

Carl Jung first published his typology in 1921, looking for patterns underneath what seemed like infinite individual differences. JTI uses that work as its foundation and updates the language for modern use, without removing what makes it useful.

Type isn't a label so much as a description of preferences: the patterns of energy, attention, decision-making and lifestyle that come naturally to you. JTI maps four:

ExtraversionWhere your energy comes fromIntroversion
SensingHow you take in informationIntuition
ThinkingHow you weigh decisionsFeeling

Certified by DNV against the EFPA test-review standard

The Norwegian version of JTI is certified against the EFPA Test Review Model — the European Federation of Psychologists' Associations' standard for evaluating psychological tests — for development use, not selection. JTI was first certified in 2017 and recertified in 2021 and 2025; the current certificate is valid until September 2028. The other language versions are translations of the Norwegian version. The research behind JTI, including the 2025 reliability and occupation studies, is summarised on our Science page.

What you get

More than a single test

JTI starts with a 20-minute assessment. After that, a structured course and a library of reports help you make sense of the results and put them to work.

  1. 1

    Take the assessment

About twenty minutes, in everyday language.

  2. 2

    Receive your type report

A long-form description of your type: strengths, growth areas, communication style, how you handle stress — on screen and as a PDF.

  3. 3

    Work through nine modules

A structured course covering Jung's history, the four dimensions, type combinations and applied practice.

  4. 4

Go deeper with booklets and type resources

Type descriptions for all sixteen types, digital booklets, and downloadable resources you can bring into workshops and coaching sessions.

  5. 5

    Apply it to your team

Team Compass and Team Insights take individual results and turn them into reports about how the team works as a whole.

Who it's for

For the people who shape teams and organisations

HR and people partners

Map your teams, build leadership programmes around real type insight, and bring a shared vocabulary into feedback and development conversations.

Coaches and consultants

Use the in-depth reports as input to your one-on-one work. They give you a starting point so the conversation can go further, faster.

Leaders who want to grow

Self-awareness is the precondition for leadership. JTI helps leaders adapt their style without pretending to be someone else.

Compared with other indicators

How JTI is different

There are many ways to talk about personality. JTI takes three things seriously that other indicators often don't:

Independent review

JTI's documentation and research have been assessed by independent reviewers for DNV against the EFPA test-review standard, and the key figures are set out on our Science page.

Modern, ordinary language

We use the kind of language a thoughtful HR partner or coach would use, not jargon and not pop-psychology archetypes.

A complete practitioner toolkit

Assessment, reports, team analysis, booklets and certification live in one platform — practitioners can run everything from a single debrief to a full team programme in one place.
